Solebury Township & New Hope

Solebury Township, organized in 1703, is 28 square miles of incomparably picturesque rolling hills, pastoral meadows, and sparkling streams. With the Delaware River as its longest boundary, Solebury Township’s rich river valley soil ranked it among the most productive of the agricultural townships in the 19th century. In the 20th century, it became home to literary and theatrical luminaries by offering scenic seclusion as well as proximity to New York and Philadelphia. New Hope Borough was carved out of the township in 1837. With nearby streams providing a bountiful resource, the town became the perfect center for mill and forges. At the height of the 19th century canal transportation, New Hope was the hub of barge commerce between Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Its scenic beauty made the area a magnet for artists and by the early 20th century, New Hope became an established artists colony. It is known for its shops, art galleries, fine restaurants and its performing and visual arts organizations.

The Solebury Township 2006 total property tax mill rate is 100.77211. The New Hope Borough 2006 total property tax mill rate is 99.99711.
